Camp Photographer

Camp Schodack is looking for a friendly and energetic photographer that is able to relate comfortably to children. A demanding and rewarding job that is an essential part of our summer communications team and the Schodack community.

Location: 40 Krouner Rd. Nassau, NY. 12123     |       Dates: June 15, 2026 - August 16, 2026 

Your experience:

You must have experience in digital photography, and various computer programs to edit your photos, create digital slideshows, and be a skilled photographer. You will be expected to take quality sports, portraits, and semi-posed and candid shots using regular and telephoto lenses. You will also take nighttime pictures of campers and staff involved in camp activities and some of these pictures are taken under low-light conditions. 

Key Responsibilities – An Overview:

  • Shoot, edit, and organize 4000-5000 photos over the entire summer
  • Create two 20-25-minute slideshows (one for each session)
  • Capture images as requested by the Communications Coordinator for weekly newsletters and the annual yearbook
  • Take photos of special events, sports, and candid moments daily
  • Take headshots of every camper (twice a summer at the start of each session)
  • Take group shots of every bunk (twice a summer at the start of each session)
  • Organize and archive photos following existing protocols in a timely manner
  • Other tasks and assignments as requested 

Job skills/requirements

  • Digital photography experience (required)
  • Photo editing experience (required)
  • Experience flying and filming with a drone (strongly preferred)
  • Must provide your own camera equipment with a good quality telephoto lens and flash (required) (drone provided by Camp Schodack)
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong desire to work around children and be active 
  • Problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Compensation 

  • $5,000 - $6,500, commensurate with experience
