Position Overview
Graduate Professional Development Services within the Graduate College is seeking a motivated Graduate Assistant to support the development, implementation, and assessment of professional development learning opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars across disciplines. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative educational initiatives focused on professional and transferable skill development, including asynchronous learning modules, stackable microcredentials, communications, and partnerships that integrate professional development into existing academic and training environments and through relations with alumni.
The Graduate Assistant will work closely with the Program Coordinator for Professional Development & Alumni Relations to help design and support scalable learning experiences that increase access to professional development. In addition to supporting selected workshops and events, the position will place particular emphasis on creating educational content for asynchronous delivery and assisting with efforts to integrate professional development curriculum into academic, research, and workplace environments across campus.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and revision of asynchronous educational modules, learning activities, and related materials that support graduate student and postdoctoral professional development.
- Help develop and organize content for stackable microcredentials, badge-based learning experiences, and other structured professional development offerings.
- Help support tracking and feedback connected to the microcredential badge-based programs.
- Support efforts to partner with faculty, supervisors, and campus programs to embed professional development curriculum into existing courses, training environments, and student or postdoctoral experiences.
- Assist with the development and support of professional development initiatives connected to training grants, fellowships, and other campus-based partnerships.
- Assist with the development of educational and training materials, including presentation slides, handouts, online learning materials, and related content.
- Support selected professional development workshops and related events as needed.
- Conduct background research and benchmarking on professional competencies, workforce trends, adult learning practices, and related topics to inform curriculum and program design.
- Support communications and outreach related to professional development and alumni engagement, including newsletters, social media content, promotional materials, and website-related content.
- Assist with alumni engagement programming and event logistics, including outreach, coordination, and communication support.
- Track participation, collect assessment data, and assist with surveys, reporting, and summary materials using tools such as Qualtrics, Microsoft Forms, Excel, and related platforms.
- Use platforms and technologies such as Brightspace, Trellis, Zoom, Canva, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Office to carry out program activities.
- Collaborate with Graduate College staff and campus partners, as appropriate, to support programming and related initiatives.
- Respond to program-related inquiries and provide general support during workshops and events.
- Manage time effectively, work independently on assigned projects, and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in a University of Arizona graduate program.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Enrolled in at least 6 graduate level units.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with workshop or event support and/or facilitation.
- Experience with writing, editing, or educational content development.
- Experience designing or supporting learner-facing educational materials, training resources, or instructional content.
- Experience with communications, newsletters, social media, PowerPoint, or Canva.
- Familiarity with sound pedagogy and/or adult learning principles.
- Familiarity with Qualtrics, Excel, D2L, Trellis, Zoom, or related tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Comfort working with diverse student populations.
- Interest in higher education, student development, professional development, or related areas.
- Interest in program assessment, alumni engagement, microcredentials, or professional skills development.
