Undergraduate Researcher at EMAC

I am hiring several undergraduate researcher(s) to join Extreme Mechanics for Advanced Composites Laboratory (EMAC; https://sites.google.com/view/emaclab/home). There are three Summer projects with potential extensions to Fall 2026 upon performance. Carefully review below project summary, expectation, and other details. Undergraduate students are required to work on-site with graduate students on a daily basis. No remote will be permitted.
Project-1: Composite-based additive manufacturing (CBAM) project
- Operate CBAM printer and other relevant equipment
- Manufacture several mechanical specimens
- Performe mechanical tests
Project-2: Micromechanics/NASMAT project
- Run the NASA Multiscale Analysis Tool (NASMAT)
- Develope NASMAT models for various space composites
Project-3: Life Cycle Analyis (LCA) project
- Learn and study open-source LCA tools
- Customize for new composite manufacturing process
Eligibility:
- Undergraduate students in mechanical or relevant engineering fields
- Strong interests in composites research
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Prior research experience (preferred)
Expectations
- Work on-site at least 10 hours/week
- Participate in (bi)weekly team meetings
- Conduct test data analysis and generate reports
- Self-motivated and proactive learners
Details
- Paid position: $11~15/hr (based on experience)
- Opportunity to joint future projects upon scuccessful completion
