R&D Summer Intern

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
We’re looking for a student intern who enjoys working in a laboratory setting and is eager to learn by doing. The R&D Summer Intern will support IFC’s technical team with hands-on laboratory work, with a primary focus on test method validation and data collection in conjunction with the R&D and Quality Control (QC) team. In addition, the intern will support a variety of smaller lab and team activities to gain exposure to how products are developed, tested, and supported in a food and cosmetic ingredient manufacturing environment.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in the lab, is detail-oriented, and is excited to learn through hands-on experience.
Program Dates: Monday, June 1st - Friday, August 28th (flexible; dependent on when you need to return back to school)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (required), preferably in Chemistry, Food Science, Cosmetic Science, or a related field
- Prior laboratory experience required (through coursework or industry)
- Ability to accurately follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to document work clearly and consistently
- Ability to follow lab safety and food safety guidelines
- Basic organizational skills and ability to manage time across multiple tasks
- Ability to work Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4pm
WHAT THE ROLE INVOLVES:
- Conduct test method validation and data collection in collaboration with QC and R&D teams, including organizing results and contributing to discussions on data interpretation
- Support and collaborate with R&D team on laboratory work and short term projects including sample preparation, testing, stability studies, and documentation
- Support preparation of food and cosmetic samples and prototypes for internal research use and demonstrations
- Maintain accurate, organized records of all laboratory work and results within company systems
