Position Summary
The TRIO & Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Student Ambassador serves as a visible, knowledgeable, and engaging representative of the department at university resource fairs, campus group visits, outreach events, and community-based recruitment activities. In this role, the ambassador shares information about TRIO & EOP programs with prospective students and their families, helping to promote awareness of access, equity, and student success initiatives across campus.
This position is ideal for a student who is outgoing, personable, and confident in communicating with diverse audiences, and who is passionate about supporting and advancing educational opportunity programs.
Key Responsibilities
✓ Represent TRIO & EOP at all university resource fairs, campus visit days, and group tours on both the Whitewater and Rock campuses.
o Deliver short presentations or talking points to prospective students, families, and community partners.
o Provide accurate information about TRIO & EOP programs, services, eligibility, and student success outcomes.
o Assist with event setup, tabling, materials distribution, and visitor engagement.
o Support outreach initiatives, including high‑school visits, community events, and partnership activities (minimal travel may be required).
Maintain a welcoming, professional, and inclusive presence at all events.
✓ Collaborate with TRIO & EOP staff to prepare materials, talking points, and event logistics.
✓ Track participation, visitor questions, and event feedback for departmental reporting.
✓ Serve as a positive role model for first generation, low-income students and students with disabilities.
✓ Perform additional duties assigned to support TRIO & EOP outreach and recruitment.
Required Qualifications
✓ Strong verbal communication and public‑speaking skills.
✓ Ability to confidently engage with diverse audiences.
✓ Willingness and ability to travel for outreach events
o Transportation provided or reimbursed
o Must be eligible to become Driver Authorized with UWW (have a valid operator's license and have a minimum of two years licensed driving experience).
✓ Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
✓ Professionalism, maturity, and strong interpersonal skills.
✓ Ability to work 15–20 hours per week, including occasional evenings or weekends.
✓ Must be a currently enrolled UW–Whitewater student in good academic standing.
Highly Qualified Candidates
✓ Prior involvement with TRIO, EOP, or other student success programs.
✓ Experience with public speaking, student leadership, or campus engagement.
✓ Comfort presenting to groups of varying sizes.
✓ Interest in educational equity, access, and student support services.
