Summer Camp Counselor
Spend Your Summer Doing Something That Actually Matters
Longview Ranch is hiring summer camp counselors and support staff for our Christian overnight camp in the mountains of East Tennessee. Every summer, we build a team of believers who give four weeks of their lives to care for kids, live out the gospel, and be part of something bigger than themselves. It's demanding, meaningful, residential ministry work and former staff routinely call it the best summer of their lives.
The Role
As a counselor, you'll live in a cabin with up to 12 campers and own their spiritual, physical, and relational well-being for the week. You're not running a program-you are the program. Counselors are the heart of camp.
You'll lead daily devotions, facilitate activities, handle the hard moments (homesickness, conflict, discipline), build real one-on-one relationships with each kid, and set the tone for your cabin. You'll also interact with parents at check-in and check-out and help keep camp clean and running.
What a Week Looks Like
Camp runs Monday afternoon through Saturday morning. The days are full, but leadership builds in daily rest and scheduled time off so you can recharge.
A typical day includes morning cabin cleanup and inspection, Morning Assembly with worship and teaching, activity rotations (Swim Hole, Horses, Riflery, Archery, Tomahawk Toss, Paintball, Woodshop, Crafts, Waterslide, River Tubing), rest and free time, a high-energy Evening Assembly, evening programs (Cookouts, Olympics, Guys/Girls Night, S'mores, Bible Adventure), and devotions and lights out with your cabin.
Who We're Looking For
We recruit carefully because campers depend on us. You should be:
- A committed follower of Christ who can articulate your faith and affirm Longview's Statement of Faith and Staff Covenant
- Actively serving in your local church - camp ministry is an extension of the church, and we want staff who are plugged in
- Responsible and dependable - camper safety is non-negotiable
- A joyful servant who doesn't mind hard work and long days
- A whole lot of fun - bring energy, creativity, and an attitude that makes camp unforgettable
- At home outdoors and comfortable in a mountain environment
- Patient and emotionally steady under pressure
- 18 or older
Why This Job
You'll finish the summer tired in the best way: closer to the Lord, sharpened by community, and carrying stories and friendships you'll keep for life. Most of our staff say camp changed them as much as it changed the kids.
If that sounds like the summer you want, we'd love to meet you.
