Corrosion Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Corrosion Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, executing full vehicle tests and analyzing test data to assess vehicle performance against environmental exposure and stone impact.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end planning, coordination, and execution of vehicle-level corrosion and stone impact durability tests
- Utilize tools like Confluence and Jira to document test plans, procedures, and results
- Track test progress, timelines, and milestones, ensuring transparency and accountability within the team and cross functionally
- Ensure external test facilities’ adherence to Rivian test protocols and capture critical data throughout the test
- Log, categorize, and prioritize test findings and issues. Work closely with design and development teams to integrate test feedback into product improvements
- Provide technical guidance to teams on corrosion and stone impact durability considerations during product development
- Drive optimization efforts in testing procedures to reduce lead times and resource requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or a related field.
- 2+ years of proven experience in failure analysis, vehicle testing, project management and stakeholder management.
- Experience in automotive testing procedures and standards.
- Understanding of various vehicle systems, subsystem interactions and failure modes.
- Knowledge of relevant automotive industry standards and regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Preferred: An understanding of corrosion engineering, vehicle diagnostics, materials science, protective coatings and surface treatments.
- Ability to travel up to 40%.
Pay Disclosure
The salary range for this role is $96,700 - $120,900 for California based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.
The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
