Job Description:

Overview:

Bethany School’s Middle School Teachers are dedicated to creating a caring, Christ-centered, and future-focused environment for students in sixth through eighth grade. They build upon the foundational skills developed in elementary school, guiding students toward success in high school within a faith-based context. Middle School Teachers are responsible for assessing the students' abilities, preparing them for standardized testing, and ensuring they are academically and spiritually equipped for the next stage of their education. Bethany teachers’ must demonstrate strong analytical skills, maintain effective classroom management, and consistently uphold clear expectations for behavior and discipline. 

Duties: 

  • Teach one or more assigned subjects to students in grades 6-8, as assigned by administration. 
  • Integrate a Christian worldview and faith-based content across all subjects, in alignment with Bethany School’s philosophy and Statement of Faith.
  • Prepare and deliver engaging lessons tailored to students’ academic levels and learning needs. 
  • Using the curriculum provided, develop instructional materials, including lesson plans, assignments, exams, and projects that foster critical thinking and support diverse learners. 
  • Modify teaching methods and materials to meet individual learning needs and maintain inclusive instruction. 
  • Monitor student progress, provide timely feedback, and issue grades based on clear assessment criteria.
  • Ensure students meet or exceed academic standards and school performance benchmarks
  • Consistently teach beyond grade-level standards to challenge and extend student learning. 
  • Establish and clearly communicate learning objectives for all instructional activities. 
  • Observe and evaluate student performance and development through formative and summative assessments. 
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment by enforcing behavior standards in accordance with Bethany School’s Behavior Standards and Code of Conduct. 
  • Be accessible to students for academic support, spiritual guidance, and personal counsel – while maintaining professional boundaries and modeling Christ-like character. 

Communication:

  • Maintain respectful, Christ – honoring relationships with students, parents, staff, and the broader community (2corinthians 5:20)
  • Communicate consistently with parents and guardians about student progress, needs, and goals. 
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and school leaders to provide individualized support for each student. 
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences, school meetings, and evening events as assigned. 
  • Attend and contribute to ongoing professional development, including in-service training
  • Actively participate in collaborative planning, sharing of best practices, and peer feedback to foster continuous growth and instructional excellence. 
  • Attend overnight class trips as assigned by the administration. 
  • Be present on campus at least 30 minutes before the school day begins and remain at least 30 minutes afterward. 

Administration:

  • Assign and grade classwork, homework, projects, and assessments in a timely and constructive manner.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, IXL, and other relevant EdTech platforms.
  • Maintain an accurate record of attendance, behavior, grades, and student development.

Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Valid Teaching Credential
  • Previous teaching experience preferred
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
