Content Strategy & Storyteller - Emerging Technologies
Content Strategy & Storyteller - Emerging Technologies
Full-time (open to PT for the right candidate)
Location: San Francisco, In Office
Ideal for: Early-career writers who are excited about writing, technology, and social media. In this role, you’ll turn complex research, tech, and investing ideas into blog posts, LinkedIn posts, and X threads, and help shape the public voice of an early-stage VC firm focused on AI, crypto, and frontier tech.
We are looking for a strong writer and tech-native storyteller to help translate Kindred Ventures’ research, investment insights, and founder stories into clear, compelling content for LinkedIn, X (Twitter), and our blog. This role is ideal for an early-career professional possessing a strong writing background, living on tech Twitter/LinkedIn, and excited to sit at the intersection of AI, crypto, generative media, web3, hardware, and venture capital.
You’ll work directly with our partners and research team to turn complex memos into engaging threads, posts, and essays, and to keep Kindred in the middle of the conversations that matter. We’re looking for candidates with a strong journalism background or writing portfolio, sharp judgment, and genuine curiosity and knowledge about frontier technology.
What you’ll do
Writing & storytelling
- Write and edit blog posts, short essays, and founder/investment spotlights that reflect Kindred’s point of view on technology and startups.
- Translate research memos and technical analysis into accessible, accurate, and engaging narratives for non-technical but sophisticated audiences.
- Collaborate with partners on op-eds, guest columns, and editorial contributions for third-party publications.
- Draft and refine social posts and threads for LinkedIn and X that highlight our investments, ideas, and portfolio milestones.
Social & content distribution
- Own the day-to-day content pipeline across LinkedIn and X: planning, drafting, scheduling, and light analytics.
- Break long-form content (research, podcasts, talks) into social-native formats: threads, pull-quotes, carousels, short clips, and visual explainers.
- Monitor conversations across AI, crypto/web3, generative media, and other frontier tech, and propose timely angles or posts for Kindred to engage, highlighting our investment thesis or portfolio companies.
Light production & coordination
- Lead the editorial and media production process, partnering with external designers, video editors, or podcast producers when needed to bring stories to life; coordinate briefs, timelines, and deliverables.
- Help with content around key firm moments (fund announcements, new investments, events) and support in packaging those for social and the blog.
Editorial operations
- Maintain a simple content calendar covering blog posts, social campaigns, and key firm milestones.
- Help document and uphold Kindred’s editorial voice, including tone, terminology, and style for written and social content.
- Use basic performance metrics (impressions, engagement, click-throughs) to learn what resonates and iterate on future content.
Qualifications (early-career friendly)
Minimum
- Minimum 1–4 years of experience in writing, content creation, journalism, media, or social media (internships, student publications, newsletters, or independent projects all count).
- Strong writing samples that show clarity, structure, and voice—ideally on technology, startups, or related topics.
- Genuine interest in frontier technology: you actively follow developments in AI, crypto/web3, generative media, dev tools, or hardware.
- Comfortable on LinkedIn and X as content platforms: you understand how people actually consume and share ideas there.
- Ability to take a complex idea and explain it simply without losing nuance.
- Organized and reliable: You can manage a small content calendar and hit deadlines with minimal oversight.
- Excited to use AI tools (for drafting, editing, summarizing, visuals) as part of your creative workflow.
Nice to have
- Experience running a newsletter, blog, podcast, or social account (personal, student, or professional) with consistent publishing.
- Familiarity with the startup and venture ecosystem (founder, operator, investor, or community involvement).
- Light design or media skills: basic video editing, social graphics, or audio editing.
- Prior experience in a tech, crypto, or AI-focused environment (company, DAO, research group, campus org, etc.).
