FDM 3D Printing Technician

The Role:

We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented FDM 3D Printing Technician to assist & manage the day-to-day operation of Tangible Creatives’ fleet of FDM 3D printers. This hands-on role ensures that files are prepared and optimized for printing, projects stay on schedule, and our printers operate efficiently. The ideal candidate is both technically skilled and a team player, capable of troubleshooting issues, maintaining equipment, and contributing wherever needed to meet project goals. You will collaborate with cross-functional departments to innovate and improve manufacturing processes. Responsibilities

  • Lead the setup, calibration, and operation of FDM 3D printers to produce prototypes and functional parts with precision and consistency
  • Develop and refine print parameters to optimize quality, speed, and material efficiency across various project requirements
  • Collaborate with a team of technicians, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback to ensure smooth execution
  • Collaborate with design engineers and product developers to translate CAD models into manufacturable 3D printed components
  • Implement quality control procedures to inspect printed parts for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and structural integrity
  • Maintain inventory of filament materials and printer supplies; coordinate procurement as needed
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to printer hardware or software promptly to minimize downtime

Requirements

  • Proven experience operating and maintaining FDM 3D printers in a manufacturing or prototyping environment
  • Strong knowledge of 3D printing materials such as PLA, ABS, PETG, and specialty filaments
  • Familiarity with CAD software for preparing models for printing; experience with slicing software is essential
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and design files accurately
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting hardware or process issues
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience collaborating across teams in a fast-paced setting

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Comfortable moving up and down stairs frequently
  • Able to stand, bend, and reach as needed for production tasks
