Certified Nursing Assistant Instructor

WORK SCHEDULE:

As needed, year-round when a Certified Nursing Assistant class is being offered by the Division of Workforce Partnerships. Must be able to work up to 19 hours per week when selected to instruct a Certified Nursing Assistant class. Must be available between the hours of 7:00am – 4:00pm and/or 4:00pm – 10:00pm.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Part-Time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Instructor administers the CNA program curriculum in a non-credit academic setting for CCRI Division of Workforce Partnerships. The part-time CNA Instructor is responsible for preparing students for the Rhode Island state licensing written and skill exams and role in a healthcare setting, by way of classroom, skill lab, and clinical instruction. Must be available to instruct all three components of the CNA training program (lecture, skill lab, clinical).

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive, and student-centered environment with learners of varying backgrounds, learning styles, and life experiences
  • Deliver competency-based instruction in accordance with defined CNA curriculum standards and state regulations
  • Implement effective lesson plans, including classroom, lab, and clinical components
  • Communicate course content using a variety of instructional methods to promote learning, skill development, and student motivation
  • Integrate technology and active learning strategies to enhance instruction and student engagement
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of student attendance, assessments, skills competencies, and overall progress, including final evaluations
  • Monitor student performance and provide timely feedback to support successful completion and certification readiness
  • Foster a supportive learning environment that encourages retention and minimizes student withdrawal
  • Ensure compliance with all clinical, safety, and infection control standards in lab and clinical settings
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom and lab environment, including proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
  • Understand and adhere to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and CCRI policies related to student accommodations
  • Collaborate with program coordinators, clinical partners, and fellow instructors; attend meetings as required
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, including required instructor trainings

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree in nursing
  • Current Rhode Island RN license
  • At least one year of full-time experience in a nursing field

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • One year of long-term care experience
  • Experience as a CNA
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
