Communications & Social Media Fellow
About the organization:
Trillion Trees is a joint venture between BirdLife International and WWF working to speed up and scale up the positive power of forests. Our work helps protect and restore forests all over the world for the benefit of people, nature and climate. Our projects focus on recovering and regrowing native and natural forests. We take a landscape-based approach, looking for opportunities to improve livelihoods and address the underlying drivers of deforestation. This ensures our efforts make a difference to people’s lives, a lasting contribution to reducing carbon in the atmosphere and preserve critical biodiversity.
Position Description:
The role of the communications intern will be to support the Trillion Trees Media & Communications Officer in delivering the communications strategy and plan, with a particular focus on social media content creation and scheduling and writing blog posts and website news and content.
Tasks will include:
- Social media content development including researching, creating and scheduling posts using tools including Canva and Sprout Social.
- Development of video content for use on social media and web materials, using Canva.
- Analysis of effectiveness of Trillion Trees social media activity and recommendations for improvement, in particular for Instagram and LinkedIn.
- Helping shape comms ideas and drafting written content for use on TT website, blogs and marketing materials .
- Helping with the production of reports, both writing and design.
- Attending virtual team meetings when possible, as appropriate to comms assistant role .
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in executing a social media strategy/plan for an organisation, business or group
- Experience using basic design tools such as Canva and Adobe InDesign
- Strong written communication skills
- Strong team-working and people skills
- Experience in researching topics, analysing and consolidating information and producing reports
- Experience and/or passion for environmental, conservation or climate causes
Time Commitment: 10-12 hours/week
