Special Education Teacher

Delta’s individualized, comprehensive program is designed to meet students’ educational, social, and emotional needs.  Our students range in age from 5 to 21 years. 

Responsibilities include:

·        Creating and executing individualized education plans for each student in your care.

·        Communicating with other staff and family members about each student’s progress and struggles.

·        Implementation of positive behavior support.

·        Preparing detailed lesson plans in advance and submitting them to administrators for approval.

·        Participating in IEP (individualized education plan) meetings as scheduled by the school.

·        Using individualized reinforcement techniques and evidence-based practices to keep each student on the path towards success.

·        Creating and distributing progress reports quarterly.

Required skills:

·        Pennsylvania certification in Special Education for teachers.  2-year associate degree for paraeducators.

·        Experience working with multiple disabilities, including autism, ADD and ADHD, learning disabilities, emotional disturbances, developmental delays, and abuse/neglect issues.

·        Positive, compassionate personality

·        Ability to evaluate students accurately and objectively.

·        Excellent communication and teaching skills.
