Marketing and Outreach Intern

Destination Imagination North Dakota is the state affiliate of Destination Imagination, an international nonprofit that inspires and equips students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders. We provide project-based STEAM challenges that build creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills for K–12 students across the state.

Compensation, Location, and Time Commitment: 

This position offers a $1,250 stipend for approximately 60–65 hours of work between June 1 and August 14. The role is remote, with the option for hybrid engagement. Preference will be given to North Dakota residents.  There is potential for an extension beyond the initial term.

Primary goals include:

  • Designing a comprehensive marketing and outreach plan, along with supporting materials, to recruit new teams and Team Managers across North Dakota.
  • Increasing volunteer engagement.
  • Building awareness across North Dakota schools and communities.
  • Identifying and cultivating sponsors and donors to support programming and events.
     

This internship offers hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, communications, and fundraising strategy.  

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications

  • Develop and schedule social media content to highlight program impact
  • Create digital and print promotional materials for recruitment and events
  • Draft newsletters, press releases, and email campaigns
  • Assist with website and storytelling content featuring teams and volunteers

Recruitment & Outreach

  • Research and connect with schools, homeschool groups, and youth organizations
  • Support outreach campaigns to educators and community leaders
  • Help develop messaging targeted to volunteers and prospective board members
  • Track engagement and participation metrics

Sponsorship & Donor Development

  • Research potential sponsors, community partners, and grant opportunities
  • Assist in creating sponsorship packets, presentations, and outreach emails
  • Help communicate the educational and workforce-development impact of the program
  • Track sponsor interactions and maintain outreach lists

Strategy & Brand Awareness

  • Assist in developing a statewide marketing and partnership growth plan
  • Analyze outreach and campaign performance
  • Recommend strategies to expand participation and funding support
