A Salt Lake City based business is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Lab Technician to support our Lead Chemist and plating operations. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for maintaining the chemical integrity of our plating baths through daily testing and precise chemical dosing, ensuring our process consistently meets quality and compliance standards.

 

Core Responsibilities

· Perform daily chemical dosing of plating baths to maintain proper solution chemistry and concentration levels

· Conduct daily wet lab testing (titrations, pH measurement, specific gravity, etc.) to analyze bath chemistry

· Conduct daily dry lab testing (Hull cell panels, thickness testing, etc.) to evaluate plating quality and deposit characteristics

· Support Lead Chemist in monitoring and recording all test results accurately in logs and data sheets

· Identify out-of-spec conditions and communicate findings to Lead Chemist promptly

· Prepare and maintain chemical solutions, reagents, and lab supplies

· Assist with troubleshooting plating bath issues in collaboration with Lead Chemist and the production team

· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lab environment in compliance with safety and environmental regulations

· Properly handle, store, and dispose of chemicals in accordance with OSHA and company standards

 

Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED required, Associate's degree or coursework in chemistry, chemical technology, or a related field preferred

· Prior experience in plating, metal finishing, or industrial lab setting is a plus

· Basic understanding of chemistry principles and laboratory practices

· Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety data sheets (SDS)

· Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills

· Comfortable working with industrial chemicals while following all PPE and safety protocols

· Good communication and teamwork skills

 

Work Environment

· This is a full-time, on-site position in a manufacturing/plating facility

· Requires standing for extended periods and working in a chemical environment

· PPE (gloves, safety glasses, lab coat, etc.) is required and provided
