Early Childhood Special Education Teacher

Montague Area Public Schools is seeking an Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)Teacher at the MACC. 

The ECSE Teacher directs the learning process by providing direct instruction to students in specified content area, along with testing and evaluation to monitor progress. Responsibilities also include activities associated with program design, implementation, and evaluation. The ECSE Teacher must maintain a professional and friendly demeanor in working with children and collaborates with families, specialists, and district staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor degree from accredited college or university 
  • Must hold a valid Michigan certification with endorsement(s) in Early Childhood Special Education or equivalent 
  • Previous successful experience working with early elementary children 

Responsibilities: 

  • Design and deliver individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals and early learning standards, using diverse strategies and materials to support all learners
  • Develop, implement, and manage IEPs in collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance, documentation, and student progress monitoring 
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages exploration, social interaction, and positive behavior, while supervising students and managing paraprofessionals 
  • Build strong relationships and collaborate with families, colleagues, and support staff to meet students’ academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs 
  • Demonstrate professionalism and continuous growth through active participation in team meetings, professional development, data-informed instruction, and adherence to ethical and confidentiality standards
