JOB SUMMARY:

This internship position(s) is an opportunity to support Alabama Power’s Electronic Security Team at our headquarters building in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. The student interns will work with our Electronic Security Team to ensure the protection of company personnel and assets. The Electronic Security Team is responsible for access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and Security Information Event Management (SIEM). Student interns will utilize skills installing and maintaining low voltage electronic components and programing of security hardware and software that monitor electronic security systems including video surveillance, intrusion detection, access control, intelligence, and emergency notification systems.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

· Major or Minor in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, or related field

· Minimum cumulative GPA requirement of 3.0

· Ability to communicate well with supervisors, co-workers, and internal/external customers

· Valid and active driver’s license

· US Citizen or Permanent Resident Only

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

· Proven leadership skills and ability to work independently

· Self-motivation and demonstrated initiative are crucial for this position

· Good oral/written communication skills and ability to work effectively with varied individuals

· Strong organizational, administrative, time management, project management, facilitation and analytical skills are must

· Advanced computer skills and the ability to learn numerous software applications quickly

· Ability to collect and analyze data across multiple software systems

· Knowledge and experience with computer network systems and hardware is a plus

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

Corporate Security’s mission is the protection of corporate personnel and assets. Our Electronic Security analyst oversee the design, installation, and programing of access control, intrusion, video surveillance, intelligence, and emergency notification systems that enhance employee safety and protect critical infrastructure at hundreds of facilities across the enterprise.
