Engineering Intern
The Engineering Intern will assist with application development, customer support, software testing, technical documentation, and demo preparation. This person will work closely with MTL Precision’s engineering and sales teams to help solve real-world manufacturing and inspection challenges.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys problem-solving, learning new technology, working with technical data, and supporting customer-facing engineering projects. In this role, you must be comfortable working across disciplines, including software, mechanical systems, hardware setup, and hands-on work with tools and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead application engineering projects for pre-sale demos, evaluations and pilot applications
- Support long-term customer projects through documentation, testing, and application preparation
- Assist with preparing application templates, guides, instructions, and technical documentation
- Learn and support MTL Precision’s proprietary MARS software platform
- Assist with software testing, troubleshooting, and debugging
- Review engineering drawings and help identify dimensional inspection requirements
- Support data analysis and technical report preparation
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field
- Interest in metrology, manufacturing, aerospace, automation, robotics, or quality inspection
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working with technical software and data analysis tools
- Ability to read or willingness to learn how to read engineering drawings
- Willingness to learn technical software, measurement workflows, and customer support processes
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment
Nice to Have
- Basic programming experience
- Experience with CAD, measurement software, MATLAB, Python, C++, or similar tools
- Exposure to manufacturing, CNC machining, robotics, quality control, or inspection systems
- Familiarity with dimensional measurement, GD&T, or engineering drawings
