We work directly with LG Electronics (LGE) to validate and refine In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) and Telematicssystems for Hyundai and Kia vehicles. Our mission is to ensure that every communication central unit (CCU) and head unit meets the highest quality standards before reaching the consumer.
The Opportunity
As a Validation Engineer I, you will focus on the critical testing and quality assurance phase of automotive product development. You will act as a technical bridge between LGE’s R&D teams (both local and in Korea) and the Hyundai/Kia engineering centers. This entry-level role is perfect for a detail-oriented engineer who enjoys hands-on problem-solving in both lab (test bench) and real-world (vehicle) environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Validation: Perform comprehensive testing for infotainment and telematics products using specialized test benches and vehicles.
- Test Case Management: Create, maintain, and execute test cases (Sanity, Regression, and Full) based on latest customer specifications.
- Issue Tracking: Utilize industry-standard bug tracking systems to report defects and monitor them through to closure.
- Field Testing: Conduct joint field tests with OEMs (Hyundai/Kia) to validate system performance in real-world driving conditions.
- Technical Support: Assist the R&D team in resolving technical issues found during validation; frequently visit OEM sites to support software updates and hardware maintenance.
- Global Collaboration: Maintain strong communication with overseas counterparts in Korea to share information and resolve cross-regional technical hurdles.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (Associate of Science with equivalent experience considered).
- Experience: Entry-level (0–2 years); experience with vehicle communication protocols or infotainment systems is a significant plus.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of in-car infotainment technologies, software/hardware testing processes, and test case structures.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to sit in/drive a test vehicle for up to 3 hours at a time and lift/setup test benches weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Travel: Ability to travel up to 30% (Domestic & International), including visits to Hyundai/Kia factories across North and South America.
Preferred Skills
- Bilingual (English/Korean): Highly preferred. Effective communication in both languages is critical for collaborating with our team members in Korea and providing clear technical reports to clients.
- Adaptability: A strong desire to constantly learn and dive into new areas with unfamiliar technologies.
