• CSI: UGA Camp — June 8–12 (Ages 13–17)
Summer Academy at UGA supports middle and high school students’ development by creating an immersive UGA experience through our academic camps. CSI: UGA is a hands-on forensic science intensive where students step into the role of real investigators. Throughout the week, participants process simulated crime scenes, analyze physical and trace evidence, and build a full case from start to finish. We are seeking a Lead Instructor to guide this session, delivering engaging instruction that blends scientific rigor, investigative thinking, and real-world forensic techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
• Teach daily sessions focused on crime scene processing, forensic chemistry, trace evidence, and case-building
• Demonstrate professional techniques for documenting crime scenes, including sketching, photography, and note-taking
• Lead hands-on forensic labs such as fingerprint lifting, fiber and hair microscopy, DNA extraction concepts, toxicology basics, and blood spatter simulation
• Guide students through evidence evaluation and help them connect findings into a coherent investigative narrative
• Support students in preparing a polished team case presentation as the program’s final culminating assignment
• Collaborate with guest speakers in forensic science, criminal justice, or related fields
• Create a structured, safe, and curiosity-driven learning environment for teens
Preferred Qualifications:
• Background in forensic science, psychology, criminal justice, or related fields
• Experience teaching, mentoring, or leading youth programs
• Familiarity with forensic laboratory methods and crime scene investigation techniques
• Ability to break down complex scientific concepts into accessible, engaging lessons
Instructors typically work 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday, between 8:30–3:30pm.
