This is not an employee position. This opportunity is ideal for a skilled, entrepreneurial seamstress who wants to grow an alterations business while benefiting from an established customer base and marketing support.

We will assist with marketing and customer acquisition, while you maintain control over how your work is performed.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform professional garment alterations and repairs (hemming, taking in/letting out seams, zipper or button replacement, etc.)
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding fittings and alteration needs
  • Assess garments to determine appropriate alteration methods
  • Use your own sewing machines and equipment
  • Submit a supply list for alteration materials (purchased by Fashion Cleaners)
  • Submit completed work according to agreed-upon processes to receive payment
  • Ensure all work meets customer specifications and quality standards
  • Collaborate on marketing and growth efforts for alterations services

What We’re Looking For

  • Prior professional garment alteration experience is required
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
  • Professional communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage subcontractor responsibilities
  • Entrepreneurial mindset — someone interested in growing the role and increasing volume over time
  • Reliable, organized, and self-directed

Additional training may be accommodated, but prior experience is required.

What We Provide

  • Established customer base
  • Marketing and promotion of alteration services
  • Purchase of alteration supplies (based on submitted supply list)
  • Flexible, commission-based earning opportunity
  • Opportunity to grow a long-term alterations business

    Independent Contractor Classification

This position is a 1099 independent contractor role and does not create an employer-employee relationship.

  • Contractor is responsible for all applicable taxes, insurance, licenses, and business expenses
  • No employee benefits, tax withholdings, or workers’ compensation coverage are provided
