Receptionist - Children's Learning Center

Job Summary

The UWM Children's Learning Center is looking for receptionists with Monday thru Friday availability during the Summer 2026 semester with the intention to continue working through the 2026/2027 academic year. Qualified candidates should be available to work the majority of the time during the identified shifts: M-F 6:45 AM- 12:30 PM, or 12:30 PM- 6:15 PM. Those with other availability will be considered. The receptionist is responsible for being the first point of contact for all phone calls and visitors by greeting, asking questions and directing them appropriately. Additionally, the receptionist will be responsible for ensuring the daily child absence records are maintained accurately and the front desk area is neat and organized.

Duties and responsibilities

 The receptionist will be responsible for fulfilling the following duties:

  • Answering all incoming calls to the Children’s Learning Center and directing those calls to appropriate the staff/room
  • Greeting and providing high quality customer service to families, staff, and walk-in clients
  • Logging child absences and reporting all absences to the appropriate classroom
  • Providing general information about the Center and its services
  • Assisting room staff with inquiries
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the front desk
  • Other various projects that may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized area in a complex environment

Preferred Qualifications include:

  • Previous reception/office experience
