Graphic Designer Student Assistant
The student position is primarily responsible for assisting the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences (BCAS) in the development and execution of creative pieces and digital assets to be used to promote both the college and its academic programming. Candidates must be a current student at The University of Akron. Graphic design or marketing majors preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Director of Communications & Marketing to understand project requirements and goals.
- Design and produce high-quality web and social media graphics, brochures, booklets, posters, and flyers.
- Ensure University brand consistency and adherence to design guidelines.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Graphic Designer or similar role.
- Proficiency in graphic design software such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Strong typography skills, ability to create or source illustrations, photography and stock imagery.
- Strategic thinking ability, desire to work in a collaborative environment and learn new skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills are critical – must adhere to deadlines, multi-task and be able to prioritize.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to learn quickly and manage workload in a cooperative and demanding environment.
BCAS is looking for someone that can work up to 10-12 hours per week, depending on project demands. Pay is $12/hour.
