Summer 2026 | Work-Study Student Program Assistant
Extended Learning seeks a Work Study-eligible student with excellent customer service, communication, writing, and time management skills to fill our office's Summer Student Program Assistant position for May 18 through July 31. This position primarily involves program-based tasks supporting our Self-Paced Correspondence, Extension Studies, and Distance Education programs. Tasks may include assisting with web pages, research, and clerical work. The Student Program Assistant also handles other office tasks as assigned and assists with front-desk duties, such as answering the phone and greeting walk-in visitors.
Required:
- Excellent reading, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to communicate with staff and faculty in a professional workplace
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Enrolled student with at least a 3.0 GPA
- Work Study eligibility
Preferred:
- Experience working in an office setting
If hired, applicants should expect a 19-20 hour-per-week on-site time commitment. Work hours must fall between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Supervisor: Program Support Assistant, Extended Learning.
Employment evaluation process: Students will reflect on and receive annual evaluations of career-readiness competencies. This includes teamwork, communication, professionalism, leadership, career and self-development, critical thinking, and technology.
Pay rate determination: The pay rate is determined by the department's available funding and students' skill sets. Depending on the department budget and employee performance, future pay raises may be available annually.
