Graduate Assistant in the Golden Grizzlies Pantry

The Graduate Assistant is responsible for providing administrative oversight and management operations to the Golden Grizzlies Pantry. This program is aimed at the impact of food insecurity on Oakland University students' academic success. Working independently, under general supervision, the position is responsible for ensuring the Golden Grizzlies Pantry runs efficiently and effectively. 

This includes general oversight of the program, management and coordination of student staff, volunteers and interns, marketing and communication of the Golden Grizzlies Food Pantry programs and support services, and managing relationships with academic schools, departments, and offices across campus. 

This position will build and facilitate connections across campus and in the community and will work to continue to expand and enhance the services provided.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be admitted and enrolled in an Oakland University graduate program.
  • Ability to effectively work and communicate with prospective students, current students, alumni, university administrators, faculty, and staff.
  • Must possess strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Must possess strong computer skills using the Google Suite.
  • Must be detail oriented and employ excellent customer service skills.
  • Two years of event planning experience preferred.
  • Ability to interact with international students to become familiar with our programs and to get involved.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Food Pantry experience preferred.
  • Must possess a strong desire to positively represent Oakland University and the Food Pantry
  • Must be able to work on projects independently.
  • Expectations of the GA is an academic year commitment (September-April) with potential employment in the summer.

Tuition:

For Fall and Winter: Tuition (eight credits per semester or a total of 16 credits) will be compensated. Any additional credits and class fees, including books, will be the responsibility of the student.  There is no tuition compensation for the summer. 

Compensation:

Student will receive a pay check on the last business day of each month for the duration of the assistantship.  For the academic year, the GA position pays a monthly stipend for 20 hours per week.   For potential employment in the summer, the GA position may also be compensated for 20 hours per week.
