The salary for this position is $32.65 Hourly.

 

Position Description:

 

Temporary-Exempt. Exempt employees are considered "at will" and serve at the discretion of the appointing officer.

 

Three (3) "Limited Hours" positions: Names of selected candidates will be placed in a pool and called on a limited hours basis. Appointment of either full-time or part-time work schedule against a temporary requisition designated as Limited Hours to a total of 900 work hours per fiscal year. Selected candidates must sign a conditions of employment form.

 

These positions are funded by the State Pre-School Full Day Grant and funding is subject to review annually. Hours are subject to change after appointment depending upon grant status.

 

Under direction of a teacher, the 3598 School Aide 3 will provide a flexible and developmentally appropriate approach to the child's learning and development; assist in recordkeeping activities and perform various duties in connection with the operations of the child development/pre-school/and/or toddler centers. As needed by the centers the position may also provide clerical support.

 

Job Duties:

 

Please note the duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned to the 3598 School Aide 3 class code and not intended to be an inclusive list.

 

1. Administers first aid and medical assistance (e.g. first aid, notification of medical authorities, etc.) for the purpose of providing immediate care of ill, medically fragile and/or injured children.

 

2. Attends meetings and in-service presentations (e.g. workshops, safety procedures, parent meetings, etc.) for the purpose of acquiring and conveying information relative to job functions and promoting the program.

 

3. Establishes positive individual relationships (e.g. parents, faculty, children, etc.) for the purpose of

building children confidence and self-esteem.

 

4. Implements children learning activities under the supervision of assigned teacher (e.g. instructional programs, lesson plans, etc.) for the purpose of of presenting and reinforcing learning concepts.

 

Maintains classroom (e.g. furniture arrangements, clean program areas, etc.) for the purpose of creating a comfortable and supportive environment for scheduled program activities.

 

5. Manages assigned program activities for the purpose of ensuring compliance with program objectives within established timeframes.

 

6. Oversees learning activities within the classroom in the absence of the lead teacher (e.g. organizing assignment, monitoring classroom environment, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring completion of instructional activities and maintaining children safety.

 

7. Prepares a variety of documents and materials (e.g. correspondence, program descriptions, required parent notices, children progress, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities providing written reference and conveying information.

 

8. Provides ongoing feedback on children (e.g. instructional issues, children needs, parental interactions, etc.) for the purpose of informing teachers of student progress and potential needs.

 

9. Researches various topics (e.g. community organizations, current program regulations, etc.) for the purpose of being knowledgeable on program trends and educational requirements of job.

 

10. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Education and Experience:

1. Successful completion of two (2) years of college (60 semester units/90 quarter units); PLUS

paid experience working with young children (preferably one year (2000 hours) work experience in child care; AND

2. College coursework must include twelve (12) Early Childhood Education (ECE) units (six units when hired and six units may be in process at the time of application); AND

3. Possess a Child Development Instructional Permit at the Teacher Level or higher or proof of having filed for a permit (Title 5 Regulation); AND

4. Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. (weight of child) and walk and stand for at least two hours.

 

Note: According to California State Community Child Care Law, a criminal clearance record is required prior to employment. According to SB277 a TB test/clearance and proof of DPT and MMR immunizations are required prior to employment.

 

Note: College Work Study and Student Lab Aide experience with the District will be considered/ applied as qualifying experience per an agreement made between the District and SEIU. This agreement will allow District students to take advantage of employment opportunities.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

 

1. Bilingual in Spanish and/or Chinese/Cantonese.

 

2. Teacher level or higher Child Development Instructional Permit.

 

Benefits:

 

“Limited Hours” appointees earn limited benefits (Sick pay only).New employees hired on or after October 1, 2013 will contribute 2% of salary to the San Francisco Retiree Health Care Trust (RHCTF).
