2026 YLEAD Summer Intern Job Description
Position: Co-Lead for Summer Leadership Youth Program
Overview: YLEAD Summer Interns will be responsible for curating, implementing, and analyzing a summer intensive youth leadership program for high school students. Interns will work to develop a week-long youth leadership program that will run for two separate weeks, one in June 2026 and one in July 2026.
The interns will be provided autonomy to explore their creativity in leadership, and support from Volunteer Center’s staff to develop and run the summer intensive program, YLEAD. The position requires two interns to fulfill the roles. The interns will be provided with office space at the Volunteer Center office in Allentown and will be expected to work 15-20 hours each week starting on June 10th through July17th. Interns will be required to fulfill additional hours and be onsite from 8:15 AM to 3:30 PM each day during the two week-long camp sessions. Class weeks are June 22-26, 2026, and July 6-10, 2026.
The Youth Leadership Empowerment Achievement Development program provides high school students with the opportunity to be involved in the community, participate in team building activities, and develop leadership skills that they can use in real life. YLEAD is intended to empower youth by helping them grow and develop as leaders in their communities. The program doubles as a leadership development program for the interns, as it allows the interns to grow their own skills and achieve their highest potential.
Responsibilities include:
- Recruiting applicants for the 2026 YLEAD program
- Reviewing applications and selecting candidates
- Coordinating and planning each full day of activities and opportunities which include:
- Icebreakers / Team Building activities / Developmental games and activities.
- Service projects
- Training classes and activities / Recruitment of speakers
- Feedback forms/quizzes/surveys
- Interaction with high school students serving as their leader
- Design t-shirts and other merchandise for the program
- Operate social media and grow YLEAD following and engagement
- Prepare binders, folders, and other materials needed for students
- Create marketing materials
- Collect clearance and waivers of students
- Write press releases, memos, and emails
- Develop and utilize surveys to track participant engagement and satisfaction
- Assist with planning and marketing of events
- Provide notes of idea for enhancement and improvement in the future
Requirements/ Skills:
- Current college Junior or Senior
- Must have own transportation
- In office position
- Background check & child abuse clearances (VCLV will process)
- Strong public speaker and communicator
- Efficient time management and organizational skills

Paid Stipend: $1,750 for full program - Paid Bi-weekly as an employee

Schedule: 15-20 hours per week - dates & times flexible, apart from the two (2) week-long camp sessions
