UI REACH Career Program Job Coach
Position Overview
UI REACH Career Program Job Coaches support college‑age students with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they participate in work‑based learning and internships. This role focuses on helping students succeed on the job by providing individualized job coaching, supporting accommodations, and collaborating with employers to build natural workplace supports.
This is a great opportunity for students interested in education, social work, vocational rehabilitation, psychology, human services, or related fields.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 job coaching support to students at internship and work‑based learning sites
Use task analysis and systematic instruction to teach job tasks and routines
Support and implement individualized workplace accommodations
Observe and assess student skills to guide coaching and promote independence
Communicate regularly with employers and supervisors about student progress
Promote and strengthen natural workplace supports, gradually fading direct support as appropriate
Model and reinforce appropriate workplace behaviors and professionalism
Assist students with problem‑solving, self‑advocacy, and navigating workplace expectations
Complete required documentation, assessments, and progress notes
Collaborate with UI REACH career staff and attend required trainings
Required Qualifications
Strength‑based, student‑centered approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Comfort working in community and workplace environments
Ability to work independently and adapt in dynamic settings
Availability during daytime hours (Mon–Fri)
Ability to pass a criminal background check
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with individuals with disabilities
Experience with job coaching, mentoring, tutoring, or supported employment
Interest in inclusive employment and disability services
