Power Design Engineer

Power Design Engineer (Power / Controls / Testing)

Location:  Hybrid - Philadelphia Navy Yard, PA 

Clearance:  Active Secret Clearance preferred (or ability to obtain a Secret Clearance).  Must be a US Citizen in order to obtain a security clearance

Seeking an early-career Electrical Engineer to support power systems design, controls, and testing for mission-critical naval platforms for our client. Requires strong fundamentals in power electronics with hands-on technical experience in a hybrid work environment at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.

What You'll Do

Our client is seeking an early-career Electrical Engineer to support power systems design, controls, and testing for mission-critical naval platforms. This role requires strong fundamentals in power electronics and hands-on technical experience. What You Will Do

  • Design, analyze, and document power systems for mission-critical platforms
  • Develop power system control logic and algorithms
  • Perform troubleshooting, validation, and system testing
  • Work with rectifiers, inverters, AC-AC or DC-DC converters
  • Configure and maintain transformers, relays, and UPS systems
  • Work with IGBTs and harmonic filters
  • Support power control systems across office, lab, and ship environments Work Environment
  • Hybrid with minimum 3 onsite days (Tuesday through Thursday) at the Philadelphia Navy Yard
  • Work may vary between office, lab, and ship environments
  • Travel varies based on role (higher for testing roles) Important Note Candidates who do not meet the degree or experience requirements will not be considered.

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BS EE) OR non-EE degree plus MS in Electrical Engineering. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. U.S. Citizenship required. Ability to work onsite 3 days per week (Tuesday through Thursday). Strong technical communication skills. Must demonstrate experience in at least 2 of the following: rectifiers, inverters, AC-AC or DC-DC converters; transformers, relays, UPS systems; IGBTs, harmonic filters; power control systems. Must align with at least one functional area: Design (system analysis, documentation, research), Controls (power system control logic and algorithms), or Testing (troubleshooting, validation, and system testing).

 

Travel:  10-25% travel
