Environmental Engineer 3 – Drinking Water Infrastructure (State of Connecticut, DPH)

The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking an Environmental Engineer 3 to support major drinking water infrastructure projects through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) program. This role helps ensure safe, reliable public drinking water for communities across Connecticut.

Key Responsibilities
• Review engineering designs for large and complex drinking water infrastructure projects
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and verify compliance
• Evaluate professional service and construction contracts
• Review payment requests for funding eligibility
• Coordinate with municipalities, consulting engineers, public water systems, and state/federal partners
• Contribute to policy and procedure development
• Present on DWSRF program initiatives and provide mentorship to new staff

The DWSRF program provides low‑interest financing to public water systems for infrastructure upgrades that improve water quality, address emerging contaminants, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

Schedule
Full‑time, first shift (35 hours/week) with flexible scheduling and potential telework after the working test period.
