Job Title: Medical Assistant (Pre-Med/PA Focus – Dermatology)
Location: Foxhall Dermatology
Job Type: Full-Time (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Commitment: 1–2 years required
Interview priority offered to candidates who can start as soon as possible (Mid May) and can commit to 2 years . This is not a summer internship role.
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated, pre-medical/pre-PA student interested in gaining hands-on clinical experience in a fast-paced dermatology practice. This role is ideal for someone considering a future in healthcare—especially dermatology—and looking to build a strong clinical foundation while working closely with experienced providers. We are willing to train the right candidate who shows a willingness to learn that parallels strong performance.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Patient Care Duties:
- Assist providers with medical and cosmetic dermatology procedures
- Prepare and turn over exam rooms efficiently between patients
- Triage patients and accurately collect medical histories
- Document patient encounters using appropriate medical terminology
- Support procedures involving Botox, dermal fillers, lasers, and PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), skin cancer screenings, Mohs procedures, surgical excisions
- Perform venipuncture (preferred but not required)
- Assist with biopsies and specimen collection, including proper handling, labeling, and shipping
- Serve as a point of contact for patients, respective family members, pharmacies, and pharmaceutical companies/representatives
Administrative & Operational Tasks:
- Manage prior authorizations for medications
- Sterilize and autoclave instruments according to protocol
- Help improve clinical workflows and systems
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation using EMR systems
- Handle prescription refills and address patient concerns
Qualifications
- Recent graduate pursuing a healthcare career
- Strong interest in dermatology required
- Availability to work full-time (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Ability to commit to the role for 1–2 years
- Reliable transportation
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience in a medical setting (dermatology strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with cosmetic dermatology procedures (Botox, fillers, lasers, PRP)
- Understanding of medical terminology
- Experience with prior authorizations and patient coordination
