Position Summary

As a Mechanical Engineer in our St. Louis, Missouri manufacturing facility you will play a key role in supporting site operations by identifying and sourcing critical spare parts, assisting with facilities projects, improving equipment reliability, developing documentation for production and support systems, and developing or maintaining Engineering drawings with AutoCAD/Solid Works. This role reports to the Maintenance Manager, and works closely with Maintenance, Facilities, Production, and Engineering teams to ensure the ongoing performance and uptime of site assets. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and a solid understanding of how mechanical systems interact with electrical sub‑systems.

 

This position requires that you work onsite in our St. Louis, Missouri manufacturing location. 

 

The standard working hours for this position are Mon - Fri between 7:00 am and 4:00pm but may require additional hours outside of this schedule to support emergent events or strategic support of projects.

 

What You'll do as a Mechanical Engineer

  • Identify, evaluate, and source critical spare parts for production and support equipment.
  • Assist in the planning, execution, and technical support of facilities projects across the site.
  • Establish, organize, track, and maintain the Critical Spare Parts inventory for the Maintenance and Facilities Department.
  • Develop and update engineering drawings, one‑line diagrams, and schematics for production equipment and facility systems.
  • Support reliability engineering efforts through FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, and identifying Single Point Vulnerabilities in critical assets.
  • Improve maintenance strategies by enhancing Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs, optimizing task intervals, and driving efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Production, and cross‑functional teams to ensure safe, reliable, and sustainable operations.
  • Operate effectively in a team environment, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

 

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Systems, Industrial, or Reliability Engineering from an accredited four‑year institution.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and their interaction with electrical sub‑systems.
  • Experience reading, creating, and updating mechanical drawings, electrical one‑lines, and equipment documentation.
  • Familiarity with maintenance strategies, CMMS/PM development, and reliability methodologies such as FMEA and RCA.
  • Ability to support hands‑on activities including equipment inspections, part evaluation, and field verification.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional groups, suppliers, and internal customers.

 

Preferred: 

  • Experience with troubleshooting electrical systems and reading and applying electrical diagrams. 
  • Working knowledge of failure modes and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Familiarity with maintenance strategies, CMMS/PM development, and reliability methodologies such as FMEA and RCA.
  • Knowledge of production systems, facility utilities, and industrial equipment is preferred.
