English Teacher

The Ursuline School is a private, independent, Catholic, college preparatory girls’ school serving grades 6–12 in New Rochelle, located just 20 miles north of Manhattan in a diverse suburban community. Position Overview

The Ursuline School seeks an English Teacher (7-12) for four sections of AP English (2) and English 10 (2). The ideal candidate is a collaborative educator who engages students through interactive, inquiry-based instruction and fosters a dynamic, student-centered classroom environment. 

Start Date: 9/1/2026

Position: 0.80 FTE (4 Classes); High School (7-12) This position is eligible for benefits. 

Salary Range:  $52,000 - $64,000 commensurate with background and experience  

Responsibilities

●    Teach middle/high school-level English courses, providing writing instruction within a variety of contexts

  • Demonstrate a broad knowledge of classic and modern literature, including adolescent literature

●    Plan, structure, and implement interactive lessons that develop students’ critical thinking 

            and analytical skills and provide methods of interpretation, analysis, and research

  • Effectively use appropriate technology tools and a range of other instructional resources 
  • Work collaboratively with a high degree of professionalism with colleagues for curriculum planning, student support, and mentoring
  • Hold high expectations for every student and differentiate instruction to attend to the learning and social-emotional needs of students
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and administration
  • Serve as a full community member by attending meetings, participating in committees, and volunteering for various student activities and school events
  • Contribute constructively to all faculty discussions and continue to grow professionally (i.e. conferences, in-service training, staying current on professional literature)


 

Experience/Qualifications: 

  • Passion for teaching in Catholic, faith-based education
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature or related field; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Experience teaching English at the secondary level
  • New York State teacher certification in English preferred
