Position: Fan Engagement Internship (Barry the Mascot)

About the Role:
The Willmar Stingers are seeking a high-energy, outgoing individual to bring our beloved mascot, Barry, to life for the upcoming summer season. As the face of in-game entertainment, Barry plays a key role in creating a fun, memorable experience for fans of all ages. This is one of the most important and visible positions within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform as Barry the Mascot at all Stingers home games
- Engage with fans throughout the ballpark, including in the stands and on the concourse
- Learn, practice, and execute scripted skits, dances, and in-game promotions
- Maintain high energy and enthusiasm for the duration of each game
- Represent the Stingers at select non-game appearances and community events
- Work closely with the promotions and game-day staff to enhance the fan experience
Schedule & Commitment:
- Must attend all home games from May 27 through August 8 (plus any playoff games)
- Typical game time is 6:30 PM; mascot must be ready when gates open (approximately 5:30 PM)
- Performances last approximately 3 hours per game, with scheduled hydration breaks
Compensation:
- Starting at $20/hour
- Opportunities for increased pay based on performance, fan engagement, and enthusiasm
- Additional paid opportunities for appearances outside of game days
Qualifications:
- High energy, enthusiastic, and comfortable performing in front of large crowds
- Strong improvisational and non-verbal communication skills
- Ability to memorize routines and stay in character
- Dependable and committed to the full season schedule
- Previous performance, dance, or entertainment experience is a plus (but not required)
