HUB Communications & Development
Communications & Development supports the department’s marketing and communications initiatives, programming and events, and advancement efforts. This includes the Creative Team, a student-led team responsible for outreach, social media, graphic design, photography and videography, and event planning. Communications & Development collaborates to support HUB-units in accomplishing their goals and fulfilling the HUB mission.

Job Description
The Photographer/Videographer is responsible for photography (80%) and videography (20%) for the HUB, including program and event documentation, photo/video for marketing materials, and other related projects. In collaboration with the Associate Director for Communications & Development and the Creative Team, the Photographer/Videographer will work to promote HUB facilities, programs, services, and events to the campus community. A student will be chosen based on their photo/video experience and potential to contribute to the mission and goals of the HUB.

Responsibilities
- Document HUB programs and events as primary photographer/videographer
- Collaborate with the HUB professional and student staff, including members of the Creative Team
- Attend and participate in weekly Creative Team meetings; attend department trainings
- Maintain communication with the Associate Director for projects, assignments, and progress reports
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with photo/video and related editing software (preferably Adobe Creative Suite; no personal license required)
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, multi-task, and manage time effectively
- Initiative and the ability to follow-through on tasks, projects, and deadlines
- Professional demeanor including creativity and flexibility
- Attention to detail; proven dedication to accuracy in each task performed
- Ability to work within the philosophy, mission, and purpose of the HUB
- Currently enrolled as a student in good standing at the University of Washington with a minimum of 6 undergraduate or 4 graduate credits
- Currently authorized to work in the US
Desired Qualifications
- Paid photo/video experience
- Previous and current coursework in Photography, Graphic Design, or related courses
- Previous or current membership in student government, RSO, or related organizations
- Demonstrated commitment and interest in campus involvement and leadership
- Ability to understand, articulate, and learn issues of social justice, equity, and cultural competency

Job Hours
6-8 hours per week, primarily Monday-Friday (fall, winter, and spring; limited hours available in summer). Occasional evening and weekend hours for programs, events, and training. Hours vary based on academic breaks and University Holidays. Schedules are determined by workload, class schedule, and academic responsibilities. Ideal candidates can commit to at least one academic year.
Project Persistence
As part of our commitment to the student experience, the HUB and the Division of Student Life will review each student interns academic progress via GPA reviews. The intent of these grade checks is to offer our interns holistic support and connect students to resources and academic support services should the need arise. These reviews will begin after you complete your first quarter of employment. GPA reviews have no impact on your selection for the position or your standing as an employee once you begin employment.
