Job Title: Community Engagement Associate
Status: Part-time; Non-Exempt; Hourly; Limited benefits Hours: Requires some morning, afternoon, night, and weekend hours Purpose and Scope The Community Information Associate supports the Athens Regional Library System’s external communications and promotional efforts. This position contributes to public relations, outreach coordination, organizational branding, and graphic design across a variety of print and digital platforms. Responsibilities include assisting with web and digital media projects, creating social media content, developing outreach materials, and ensuring consistent messaging. The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, culturally diverse environment. Training and Experience Required: • High school diploma or equivalent Preferred: • Completion of courses in writing and graphic design • Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) A combination of education, training, and experience that provides requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position may also be considered. Representative Duties and Responsibilities: The following duties are normal, but not exclusive or all-inclusive, expectations for this job. Other duties of a similar nature may be required and assigned. • Supports the library’s public information plan and strategies. • Creates and produces visually engaging graphic design items for the library, such as posters, fliers, digital displays, and videos. • Assists in the creation of content for social media platforms • Assists in ensuring accessibility standards are met across all library digital media • Submits library events to online community calendars. • Creates and schedules the library’s online newsletter and maintains the listserv • Coordinates the promotion of library events and activities through various channels, including newsletters, flyers, and community calendars. • Monitors and approves community bulletin board items. • Monitors news articles about anything ARLS-related and stores electronically for historical purposes. • Assists with outreach at community events. • Assists in the coordination of outreach events, including communicating with outside organizations to secure the library’s attendance. • Assists the Community Engagement & Outreach Coordinator with miscellaneous duties, including maintaining media contact lists, drafting communications materials, and coordinating media inquiries. • Provides support for special projects and initiatives as needed. • Assists with branding and implementation of style guidelines. • Communicates and works cooperatively with staff in all departments of the library. • Attends and participates in team meetings as assigned. • Creates and uploads digital signage at the Athens-Clarke County Library and performs weekly updates • Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of: • All normal and emergency library building procedures • The library’s core values • Branding and style guidelines, including fonts, colors, and graphics Skills: • Upholding the library’s core values • Aptitude for creating engaging and appropriate community engagement productions. • Familiarity with social media platforms. • Personal computer proficiency with online databases, Internet search engines, Office Suite and Google Drive. • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
