Patent Law Intern
As a Summer Intern reporting to the Vice President of Intellectual Property, you will gain exposure to patent work at a corporation developing research tools for cellular analysis.
Position overview:
- Contribute to drafting patent applications that cover commercially relevant technologies.
- Assist Intellectual Property group in assessing 3rd party patents (freedom-to-operate/landscape).
- Work with R&D scientists to gather technical details for patent applications.
- Collaborate with patent agents and paralegals to learn about legal processes.
What makes you a good fit:
- MS or PhD student in a biology-related field.
- Able to commit to a 10-12 week program during Summer 2026.
- Interest in patent law and either planning to attend law school or currently attending law school.
- Self-motivated with ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
- Experience in one or more of the following is a plus - cellular imaging, CRISPR editing and/or screening, machine learning, and transcriptomics.
In California, the estimated pay range for this position is $40-$45/hour. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
