Marketing and Event Planning Intern

Marketing and Event Planning Intern:  The River Falls Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau is seeking a highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented individual seeking out a learning experience in marketing and event planning.  This intern position will work with the Chamber management team for the development, coordination, implementation, and maintenance of member and tourism marketing campaigns as well as the design, staffing and implementation of member events (annual golf outing) and community events (River Falls Days & Bacon Bash).

Requirements:

  • Extremely organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, deadline driven, and creative
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at one time
  • Strong customer service focus with relationship-building abilities
  • Top notch written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in digital and social media marketing such as Facebook for business
  • Affinity for working with community volunteer leaders and committees 
  • Display a positive, do-whatever-it takes attitude
  • Familiarity with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point) and graphic design skills in Canva (or equivalent)
  • Internet proficiency 
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Flexibility to work occasional evening and weekend hours, especially during busy event season; general work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00a-4:00p

Key Actions with team approach: 

  • Assist with planning and implementation of Annual Golf Outing
  • Assist in special event planning and execution of River Falls Days and Bacon Bash
  • Attend and assist with events taking place during the summer
  • First point of contact for phone and walk-in guests
  • Assist with design and creation of social media posts on Chamber platforms for tourism marketing programs and special events.
  • Assist with writing and design of weekly e-newsletters
  • Assist with membership marketing and retention through outreach to members
  • Assist with production and management of content for all Chamber websites
  • Create graphic design work for flyers, websites, commercial print, and other forms of communication on brand with Chamber
  • Contribute editorial content and/or support the creation and production of outsourced marketing materials
  • Promote the area’s lodging, dining, shopping, recreation, events, and attractions to visitors through the tourism efforts of the organization
