Natural Areas Program Manager

Location: Natural Resources Building- Olympia, WA

Work Hours and Partial Telework flexibility may be available and considered

Salary: $89,388.00 - $104,244.00 Annually

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction for natural area management and acquisition actions.
  • In coordination with the Natural Areas Lead Scientist, provides direction for the program's monitoring and assessment activities
  • Works with federal, state, and local agency partners and NGOs to coordinate and identify collaborative conservation opportunities
  • Program Management and Administration.
  • Fiscal responsibilities.
  • Strategic development and outreach, including participating in meetings with the Natural Heritage Advisory Council.
  • Directly supervising 2 FTE, who supervises a team of 4 FTE.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience managing a land and resources conservation program within the previous five (5) years.
  • Two (2) years’ experience managing partner relationships that operate exclusively in conservation, recreation, or both during the previous five (5) years. This experience must include budget development.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in public administration, Conservation Land Management, or related field.
  • Extensive knowledge, experience, or familiarity with land management activities such as invasive species control and prescribed burning. 
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the principles of conservation biology.
  • Experience managing a statewide network of conservation sites.
