Facilities Paint Crew - Summer 2026 - Work Study or Regular Pay

University Housing Facilities – Summer Paint Crew Staff

University Housing Facilities is seeking Facilities Paint Crew staff members for the summer season. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working in a supportive team environment.

Dates:

  • May 18th – August 28th, 2026 

Pay Rate:

  • Staring Pay $14.00 per hour 

Weekly Hours:

  • Up to 40 hours per week 

Typical Shift:

  • Shifts occur during daytime hours, with start times as early as 6:00 AM 
  • Shift length and schedule may vary based on operational needs 
  • Flexible scheduling available; no evenings or weekends required

Facilities Paint Crew Duties:

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, filling cracks and washing as necessary
  • Apply paint, stain, or varnish to surfaces using brushes, or rollers according to project applications
  • Clean and maintain painting tools and equipment after use to ensure they are in good working condition for future projects
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas including storing paint and supplies and material
  • Collaborate with other members of the paint crew and supervisor to complete projects efficiently and effectively
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by the supervisor or project lead to support the goals of the paint crew and Housing Facilities department

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain on your feet for extended periods (6–8 hours per shift) 
  • Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor environments, including heat, humidity, and varying weather conditions 
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when needed 
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and twisting 
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment up to 25–50 pounds (e.g., paint buckets, ladders, supplies) 
  • Manual dexterity to handle brushes, rollers, and other painting tools with precision 
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, masks, or safety glasses, as required 
  • Tolerance for exposure to paint fumes, dust, and cleaning chemicals (with proper safety measures in place)  
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain awareness of surroundings
