Giving Guitars Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing hope and encouragement through music to shelters and organizations serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness, foster children, at-risk youth, veterans, and those recovering from trauma, addiction, or domestic violence.
Through live music, guitar donations, outreach, storytelling, media engagement, and community partnerships, Giving Guitars works to create meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve while building strong relationships with shelters, supporters, donors, and the broader public.
Position Overview
Giving Guitars Foundation is seeking a highly organized, creative, and communication-focused intern to support donor relations, shelter outreach, media communication, social media support, video and content creation, administrative coordination, and mission-driven relationship management.
This internship is ideal for a student who wants hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, public relations, donor engagement, outreach strategy, social media, storytelling, community partnership development, and nonprofit operations.
The intern will play a direct role in helping Giving Guitars stay connected, responsive, visible, organized, and proactive as the organization continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Relations and Outreach
Maintain communication with current donors and supporters
Help initiate and build new donor relationships
Assist with donor follow-up and relationship tracking
Support outreach to individuals, organizations, and prospective supporters who may align with the mission
Shelter and Organization Relations
Reach out to shelters and partner organizations
Help coordinate and schedule shelter visits
Maintain communication with shelter leaders before and after visits
Assist in building long-term relationships with shelters and community organizations
Media and Press Support
Help create press releases
Assist with sending press releases to media contacts
Help contact media outlets and follow up on outreach
Support visibility efforts for Giving Guitars in the communities it serves
Social Media and Communications Support
Assist with managing social media communication and account activity
Help support content planning and posting coordination across platforms
Assist with mission-focused storytelling and communication efforts
Help strengthen public awareness and engagement through digital communication
Video and Content Creation Support (optional)
Assist with creating short-form videos and mission-based content
Help organize, capture, repurpose, and prepare content related to shelter visits, donor outreach, events, and Giving Guitars impact
Support visual storytelling efforts that highlight the mission and community impact of the organization
Beluga Host Mission Support Outreach
Assist in communicating with shelters and organizations about Beluga Host, Giving Guitars’ social enterprise
Help explain how Beluga Host supports the broader mission
Follow up with interested contacts and help organize outreach related to this initiative
Administrative and Operational Support
Keep spreadsheets, outreach trackers, donor records, shelter records, and communication logs organized and up to date
Support data entry and detail tracking across organizational documents
Help maintain follow-through on communication tasks and outreach systems
Assist with overall coordination of communications and relationship management activity
What the Intern Will Gain

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Google Sheets and Google Docs
Comfort with drafting professional emails and communications
Interest in social media, storytelling, short-form video, or nonprofit content creation
Interest in nonprofit leadership, donor development, communications, community relations, or administrative support
