Giving Guitars is a nonprofit organization under the Sky 3 Entertainment umbrella. Sky 3 Entertainment is an independent entertainment company based in Nashville, TN. We offer unpaid, remote internships with the option to receive academic credit. Giving Guitars uses music to bring hope, encouragement, and support to aid the homeless. It aids shelters and organizations who help individuals and families experiencing homelessness, foster children, at risk youth, Veterans, and those recovering from trauma, addiction, or domestic violence.
Giving Guitars is seeking a dedicated, reliable, organized, driven, and motivated Grant Writing and Development Intern to help identify grant opportunities, support proposal development, and strengthen funding efforts. This role is ideal for students interested in gaining hands-on experience in grant writing for a non-profit humanitarian organization. It provides real-world exposure to all aspects of a non-profit organization. Interns are treated as valued team members and are assigned meaningful projects based on skills, interests, and growth goals. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain real world experience writing grants across multiple mission driven initiatives.
In addition to supporting Giving Guitars, the intern may also assist with grant related writing and research connected to Steven Cade (award winning Nashville artist) and Beluga Host, our social enterprise that helps support the mission of Giving Guitars. This is an outstanding opportunity for a student or emerging professional who wants meaningful hands-on experience in nonprofit development, research, persuasive writing, and mission based fundraising.
The right candidate will be detail oriented, self motivated, strong in written communication, and excited to help build a competent and effective grant writing program that can support long term growth and impact.
Applicants outside the Nashville area are welcome, as this position is fully remote.
Position includes research, proposal writing, and/or full-cycle grant management as follows:
-Research, draft, and submit proposals to secure funding from foundations, government agencies, or corporations for Giving Guitars and other entities under the Sky 3 Entertainment umbrella.
-Bridge the gap between funder requirements and Giving Guitars needs by writing compelling narratives, creating project budgets, and managing complex submission deadlines to obtain financial support
-Maintaining accurate records and documentation
-Updating shared documents using Google Docs and Google Sheets; have a good working knowledge of working in Google Docs
General Qualifications
Applicants for either track should meet the following criteria:
-Ability to commit 10 to 15 hours per week for a minimum of three months
-Availability 4 to 5 days per week for a minimum of 2 hours per day
-Reliable computer and internet access and availability for video calls, phone, and email
-Strong working knowledge of Google Docs and spreadsheets
-Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
-Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
-Willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibility
