Event Crew – Great History Challenge (Columbus, OH)
BACKGROUND
The Great History Challenge is a nationwide academic competition for middle school social studies students. Our mission is to use the fun of competition to get students excited about history while providing students who are passionate about history much-needed recognition.
We started the year with 50,000 middle school students - now only 300 remain. At the National Championship (May 22-24 in Columbus), these students from across the country will grab a buzzer to face off in a final test of their knowledge. It's fun, fast-paced, and exciting. It truly is the “Greatest Competition in History"!
THE POSITION
As a competition moderator, you will use our software to channel your inner Alex Trebek and run one of the competition rooms. You will get to work directly with some amazing pre-teens and watch them demonstrate historical knowledge that few professors possess. It's awe-inspiring and frankly a TON OF FUN!
THE COMMITMENT
This is a short-term commitment. The event is in Columbus (at a major hotel downtown) over Memorial Day weekend (May 22-24). You would train on Friday and then work on Saturday (until 6pm) and Sunday (until 2pm).
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for for bright, energetic people who enjoy working with kids. We need moderators with basic computer skills, and a background in history and/or education is a plus, but not required. More than anything, we want people who are going to create a FUN atmosphere. These are AMAZING students, and we want to give them a great experience!
This is a paid position.
