Reports to: Community Learning Coordinator
Location: Springfield, MA
Position Overview:
The Learning Intern plays an important role in JFSWM’s Learning and Employment Program, assisting with classroom operations, instructional activities, and client engagement.
This internship provides hands-on experience in adult education, refugee services, and nonprofit
programming, offering opportunities to develop professional skills while making a meaningful
impact in the lives of immigrants and refugees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Classroom Support: Assist with various aspects of the classroom including set-up, clean up, class preparation, and instructional support.
- Teaching: Lead, plan, and teach English language, job skills, and/or digital literacy classes.
- Program Support: Help with other aspects of the program as needed, such as English assessments, the volunteer coaching program, data tracking, curriculum and material development, and referrals to partner programs.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant degree program (e.g., Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, Legal Studies etc.).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic data entry.
- Passion for social justice and a commitment to serving vulnerable populations.
