Human Resources Intern

Summer internship (May through August; flexible scheduling may be available) 

Must be available during regular business hours to assist with front desk coverage 

 

GENERAL SUMMARY

The main purpose of the Human Resources Intern position is to provide an inside look at how a county HR department operates while giving you the opportunity to build practical skills, contribute to meaningful projects, and strengthen your resume in a professional setting. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the first point of contact at the HR front desk, greeting employees and visitors 
  • Assist with day-to-day administrative tasks and departmental support 
  • Contribute to HR projects, including tracking and organizing department metrics 
  • Help maintain employee records and ensure accurate documentation 
  • Support the HR team with various projects and operational needs 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Students who have graduated from HS with a diploma or equivalent 
  • Students currently pursuing (or recently completed) a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field 
  • Individuals interested in exploring a career in HR or local government 
  • Strong communicators who are organized, dependable, and professional 
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
