Responsibilities and Duties:
The Cheminformatics intern will work within the department of Cheminformatics and Machine Learning to support drug discovery efforts by contributing to cheminformatics projects spanning compound library design and reaction optimization. These responsibilities involve working closely with our Early Discovery teams.
- Support development of automation tools to enable substructure searching and chemical enumeration across large compound collections
- Support cleaning, standardization, and structural validation of chemical compounds to ensure data integrity across Nurix's compound database.
- Contribute to building reusable, scalable tools with direct impact on drug discovery workflows
- Document methods and communicate findings to cross-functional teams
Qualification Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a BS, MS, or PhD program in cheminformatics, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related field
- Strong chemistry foundation required; coding experience (Python preferred) a plus
- Familiarity with cheminformatics concepts (e.g., SMARTS, SMILES, canonicalization, substructure searching) preferred
- Experience with RDKit or similar cheminformatics toolkits a plus
- Strong analytical thinking and ability to communicate complex concepts across teams
- Self-motivated with ability to work both independently and collaboratively
