Team IMPACT is a national nonprofit that promotes healthy social and emotional development for children living with serious and chronic illnesses, by matching them with college athletic teams. The team provides extended support network for the children and families using a strength-based, future-focused perspective. This two-year therapeutic mentoring program provides children with a true sense of belonging and focuses on building confidence and resilience while encouraging healthy behaviors. Founded in 2011, Team IMPACT has already matched more than 4,000 children with over 800 colleges and universities in all fifty (50) states and has impacted more than 100,000 student-athletes across the country.

Intern candidates should prepare for a transformative experience at Team IMPACT – one that allows candidates to participate in meaningful work with a dedicated and driven staff. The Development intern will be tasked with leading projects and assisting existing staff on a diverse range of projects. This role will challenge participants to think creatively, work with passion and purpose, display attention to detail and diligence, while contributing to the organization’s culture and mission growth. Working independently and in a team environment, interns will be exposed to a wide variety of projects. Joining Team IMPACT allows participants to make a lasting contribution across the organization.

Team IMPACT is looking for a driven, organized, and responsible individual with strong organizational and communication skills to join the summer Internship Program.
- Length: Summer Semester, June 1, 2026 – July 31, 2026
- Location: Hybrid (Remote and onsite) - Team IMPACT 500 Victory Road, 3rd Floor, Quincy, MA 02171
- Compensation/Hours: $15 PHR /20 hours per week
Position Summary
The Development Intern will report directly to a member of the Development Team and support a wide range of development and operational initiatives at Team IMPACT. This role is heavily focused on donor prospecting, pipeline development, grant research and tracking, and fundraising event support. The intern in this role will contribute to identifying and engaging potential donors and sponsors, maintaining organized tracking systems, and assisting with donor relations and stewardship efforts. Additionally, the role includes supporting the planning and execution of fundraising events and special projects. Success in this position requires strong research and organizational skills, attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams.
Responsibilities
- Conduct prospect research to identify and evaluate potential donors at key universities by analyzing university leadership, including boards of directors and alumni boards, to identify individuals aligned with organizational priorities (e.g., executives, professional athletes, and leaders in marketing, finance, and healthcare).
- Support donor pipeline development through targeted cold outreach efforts to help gift officers secure meetings and cultivate relationships.
- Research prospective grant opportunities using AI tools and traditional databases to identify funding sources aligned with organizational programs.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive grant tracking system through excel, including application timelines, requirements, and annual deadlines.
- Assist with donor relations and stewardship efforts, including preparing thank-you letters, acknowledgment materials, new donor welcome kits, and other engagement initiatives.
- Support special donor engagement projects, as assigned, to enhance retention and long-term relationships.
- Identify and prospect potential corporate and individual sponsors for major fundraising events in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Chicago.
- Solicit and secure auction items for IMPACT events to support event fundraising goals.
- Provide logistical and operational support for fundraising events, including Impact events and Playmakers events as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be flexible, have an attitude for coaching, resourceful and take initiative.
- Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced collaborative team environment.
- Be a self-starter comfortable working independently or as a part of a team.
- Must be disciplined and organized with exceptional attention to details.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Salesforce or another non-profit CRM systems a plus.
