Project Management Intern

About Internship

The Project Management Intern supports project managers and delivery teams with coordination, reporting, and process support across active and upcoming projects. This role helps maintain accurate project documentation, schedules, action items, and status reporting, while developing practical experience with project delivery methodologies, stakeholder communication, and professional services tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Communication

  • Support project managers with meeting coordination, agendas, minutes/notes, and action item tracking.
  • Maintain project documentation (charters, RAID logs, decision logs, stakeholder lists) and ensure version control and accessibility.
  • Follow up with internal teams on due dates and deliverables; escalate risks or blockers to the project manager as needed.
  • Assist with client-ready communications and status updates (drafting content, updating templates, and compiling inputs).

Scheduling, Reporting & Metrics

  • Update and maintain project schedules, milestones, and work plans as directed by the project manager.
  • Help gather and consolidate weekly status inputs from technical leads and stakeholders.
  • Track key delivery metrics (timeline, scope changes, resource needs, and action items) and assist in preparing SmartSheet dashboards and reporting.
  • Support project forecast with supervision from the lead Project Manager on a project
  • Support timesheet compliance follow-up and basic time entry coordination, where applicable to the project process.

Process Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Assist with standardizing templates and improving documentation practices for repeatable project execution.
  • Support basic analysis tasks (e.g., identifying trends in risks/issues, schedule variance, or action item aging).
  • Help maintain shared team calendars, project folders, and distribution lists as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and basic comfort learning new tools quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail (tracking action items, dates, and deliverables).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or exposure to project management concepts (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum) and basic SDLC understanding.
  • Experience using project tracking tools (e.g., Kantata, Jira, Asana, Smartsheet, MS Project) through coursework or prior internships.
  • Comfort with data organization and reporting in Excel (filters, pivot tables, charts).
  • Interest in professional services delivery, client projects, and operational excellence.
  • Exposure to SAP, SAP SuccessFactors, or other HR technology (such as Workday or PeopleSoft) or exposure to Human Resource functions and business processes

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

This position is primarily office-based and involves extended periods of computer and video conferencing use. 

Reporting Relationships

Reports to: Project Manager / PMO Lead (To be determined). Works closely with: Project Managers, Delivery Leads, Resource Management, Sales Operations, and cross-functional delivery teams.
