Maintenance Mechanic 3-Control Technician Lead
Seattle Central College is looking to hire a Maintenance Mechanic 3-Control Technician Lead in Facilities & Plant Operations Department.
Salary Range for this position is $58,632 to $76,944 annually (depending on experience).
Opportunity is open until filled, first review of materials will begin April 27th, 2026.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic 3 - Controls Technician Lead will be responsible for performing a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair, remodeling and construction of buildings, plumbing and heating systems, and equipment. This role is an expert-level highly skilled tradesperson responsible for the maintenance and repair of complex building automation systems in a variety of settings, including industrial, commercial, and residential environments. This position may direct the work of maintenance personnel, equipment mechanics, and others performing skilled maintenance.
This position is Full-time, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday primarily 8:00am - 5:00pm.
This position works 100% of the time on-site
This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by WFSE

What you will be working on:
- Read plans and blueprints
- Determine scope of work, materials needed, and their cost and availability
- Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on building systems, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and structural components, ensuring optimal performance.
- Conducts routine maintenance on location-specific equipment; tracks inventory and coordinates equipment orders in compliance with purchasing guidelines.
- Performs preventive maintenance on shop equipment, vehicles, and construction machinery (e.g., oil changes, lubrication, tire repair, light replacement, belt replacement).
- Develops preliminary cost estimates for repairs, maintenance, and alteration projects.
- Troubleshoots and develops solutions for repair and maintenance issues.
- Reads and interprets plans, blueprints, and technical drawings to guide work.
- Enforce safety rules and maintain control of shop and laboratory activities according to established procedures
- Assist in overseeing the operation and maintenance of a central control and monitoring system; perform adjustments and recalibrations
- Monitor DDC via Iconics system to note and address faults with control valves, dampers, VFDS, JACE and Spyder controllers; temperature, pressure, CO2, humidity and occupancy sensors; and all other controlled devices
- Coordinate with vendors on chiller and cooling towers maintenance
- Performs the duties of a Maintenance Mechanic 2 and provides leadership and guidance to other staff.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)
- Knowledge of:
- Equipment, methods and tools used in installations.
- Operation, maintenance, repair and modification of air systems, digital and electronic monitoring and measuring instruments.
- Building automation networking, VLAN, VPN, and Java Application Control Engines (JACE) and all levels of controllers, CMMS, use and programming of automation software, analytics software.
- Test instruments used in operation, calibration and repair of electronic and pneumatic instruments; record keeping.
- Ability to:
- Read and understand instructional manuals, drawings, diagrams, plans and sketches using electrical and electronic symbols.
- Fabricate minor equipment and electrical circuitry.
- Keep records, make reports; establish and maintain effective work methods; schedule and assign work and maintain cooperative work relationships with others; work independently in improvising necessary systems components.
