Asian Community Development Corporation (ACDC) invests in Asian American and low-income communities by creating and preserving affordable and vibrant neighborhoods in Chinatown and Greater Boston.
Description
ACDC seeks a college student who has experience or interest in planning events to support some of ACDC’s key summer events. The intern will work closely with the Events Associate to support the planning of the Films at the Gate reception event and other community events that celebrate the youth and residents involved and foster donor relationship building. The intern will learn and use event planning tools and techniques and collaborate with other departments.
Schedule
The intern will work up to 20 hours per week on a hybrid schedule with at least one in-person day on Wednesdays between 11 am to 4 pm. The onboarding period may require more than one in-person day. The weekly schedule of other working days and hours will be set based on the intern’s availability but must fall within Monday to Friday between 9 am to 5 pm. The intern must be available to work Friday, August 14 from 4 pm to 9:30 pm. May involve working one or more Saturdays (approx. 4-hour shift) with advance notice.
Compensation
The Events Intern will earn $17.00 per hour.
Role Responsibilities
Update event planning progress using Excel, Word, and related applications.
Conduct email outreach to event vendors and partners.
Conduct research on event planning needs and materials based on a budget (pricing for event supplies, etc.).
Coordinate event marketing with the Communications & Development Associate and the Communications Intern.
Plan, coordinate, and execute the Films at the Gate reception.
Support day-of tasks for Films at the Gate and other community events as needed.
Draft required event forms to be reviewed by the Events Associate.
Qualifications
Interest in supporting ACDC’s work and mission.
Completion of at least one year of college by start of internship.
Fluency in speaking or writing Mandarin and/or Cantonese is a plus but not required.
Experience using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Canva or comparable applications.
Background or interest in event planning or project management.
Organized and detail oriented.
Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively or desire to improve communications skills.
Enjoy social environments and collaborative work.
Ability to maintain professionalism in working with staff members, youth, and community members.
